THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.

The Good Friday and Easter holidays commence to-day, and will be continued until Tuesday next. All the steamers arriving from the Thames and coast ports yesterday brought up a large number of visitors to spend the holidays in town, while the steamers leaving also took a full complement of passengers, who intend .spending the holidays in the country. Special services 'will be held in many of the churches in the city to-day. The Government offices, banks, insurance offices, and the general business premises in the city will be closed from to-day until Wednesday morning next. The Supreme Court offices closed yesterday afternoon, and will remain closed until Wednesday morning next, and during the remainder of the week will close at one o'clock each afternoon.

Owing to the annual picnic of the Auckland Tramway Company, the cars will <iot run to-day. The Sunday 'bus service between Auckland and Onehunga will run as usual. , /

A number of' water excursions are announced for to-day -Steamers will leave the ferry tee for Rangitoto and St. Heliers Bay. * The Rose Casey runs to Waiwera and Mahurangi Heads, and the Newmarket Fishing Club leave on an excursion by the p.s. Osprey. proceeding first to Maraetai to land passengers, and then going on to the fishing grounds. ' The s.s.
