At the Hibernian Society's sports to-day the Grand Handicap was won by Evans, of Wellington, Somers, of Hastings, being second. The Half-mile was won by Pack, of Wellington.

CriEiSTOHURCn:, Monday. . William Hoey, chief cook of the Rotorua, died suddenly on the vessel at Wellington on Saturday afternoon. He was at one time cook on the Lyttelton steamer Cygnet, and before that was second cook on the Rotoinakana.
