CONCILIATION BOARD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — see the Conciliation Board have to settle the dispute between the Waihi Gold Mining Company and the Miners' Union.-1 am not in any business, trade, profession, or calling," so I presume I am able to tako an impartial view of things. , But- as a holder of "Waihi stocks I must certainly object to the Rev. A. H. Collins acting as chairman over that most important dispute, for this, amongst other reasons. A man trained to preach twice on Sunday week after week, year after year, to a dumb show, naturally becomes egotistical when confronted by men who differ with him. Mr. Collins may be the best fellow alive in his own sphere, but, in my humble opinion, he is out of place, having no practical knowledge, which as chairman is absolutely essential. Fancy an ecclesiastical conciliation board to settle disputes in re ritual, dogma, etc., the said board (to consist of two " broad" and two " high" churchmen, and the chairman being a layman versed in turnips. The comparison may seem ludicrous, but it is quite in keeping.—l am, etc., H.D.M.
