[by TELEGRAPH,PRESS association.] Gisborne, Thursday. Messrs. Sellars and Son, of Napier, have secured a contract for four large bridges from the Waiapu County Council. Wellington, Thursday. Two Wairarapa divorce cnse3 came before the Chief Justice to-day. Sarah E. Stanley sued William E. Stanley on the ground of desertion, and James McKenzie proceeded against Elizabeth McKenzie on the ground of misconduct, with A. Eraser joined as corespondent. Decrees nisi were granted in both cases. . In the Supreme Court to-day J. B. Imrio, late railway stationmaster at Foxton, who pleaded guilty to forgery of vouchers, was admitted by Judge Edwards to probation for two years. Friends have undertaken to repay the moneys for which accused was responsible. Carterton, Thursday. A Maori chief, Ivoliia Ropata, fell out of a buggy at Gladstone, and sustained a severe fracture of the le&, and was otherwise badly knocked about. Masterton, Thursday. William Budd has been committed for trial on a charge of having indecently assaulted his twin daughters. Bail of two sureties of £100 each was allowed. Christciiurcii, Thursday. At the Supreme Court to-day an action claiming damages for slander was heard, Catherine Nugent, a tailoress, suing William Whitta for £50, in respect of certain statements alleged to have been made by defendant, reflecting on plaintiff's character. After a considerable amount of evidence had been taken, the case was adjourned till tomorrow.
