MACKAYTOWN WATER SUPPLY.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. Paeroa, Wednesday. The Mackaytown water supply was again under discussion at the County Council meeting this afternoon, the engineer submitting another scheme for supplying the townships with water, at a cost of £700. The previous resolution of the Council was that only £600 be expended. The question caused a good deal of discussion. Eventually, it was resolved that if all the residents of Mackaytown would agree to take the water, and to pay the usual charges, besides giving a. guarantee to that effect, the Council would adopt, the engineer's scheme, provided the Government would pay half of the additional amount. According to this resolution the Council would spend £650 in bringing in the supply, the other £50 to be given by the Government.
