THE POLLARD SEASON.

The Opera House was again well patronised last evening, when Mr. Pollard's Opera Company gave the second performance of "The Bohemian Girl." The opera went more smoothly than on the previous night, and tho principals were all encored for the beautiful solos which are scattered through the work. Miss May Beatty, Miss Maud Beatty, Mr. Carter, and Mr. O'Connor were the recipients of unstinted applause,. both for their acting and singing. "The Bohemian Girl" will be repeated to-night and to-morrow. On Friday it will give place to the charming opera, " The Gondoliers," which will on Saturday be followed by ," La Mascotte." There will also be the usual matinee performance on Saturday afternoon. The last appearance of the company will be made on Monday, and the piece chosen for the farewell is "In Town,' one of the most popular in the repertoire. / DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY. The excellent programme at the City Hall continues to attract large audiences. The Faust Trio are undoubtedly three very clever young ladies, their refined dancing and contortion act being splendidly done. The Wingate Sisters also are smart trapeze artistes, whilst Mr. Fra«k M. Clark as a comedian is on the top rung in the ladder of excellence. Miss Ivy Scott as a serio and mimic is very popular, and Miss Ida Roslyn as a dancer would be hard to beat. Altogether, the entertainment is one of all-round merit. . ' . FULLERS' BIJOU COMPANYThere was a large attendance at the Agricultural Hall last night, when the programme submitted gave the greatest satisfaction, as most of the items were encored." To-night is the last night of Mr. Charles Faning, when he will give a number, of songs that he has made popular this season, also his burlesque on "II Trovatore." To-morrow evening Mr. Sivroni._ comedian and eccentric dancer, will make his first appearance. , His india-rubber dance is said to be a most remarkable performance. ' "'' CHRISTMAS TREE AND SALE OF WORK. • A sale of work in aid of the church building fund was opened at the Primitive Methodist Sunday-schoolroom, Eden Terrace, yesterday at three p.m., and continued open throughout the afternoon and evening. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. D. Goldie) formally declared the sale open, and in doing so, complimented the lady members of the church on the capital display made, and expressed a hope that the church fund would bo largely benefited by thoir efforts. His Worship's remarks were well merited, as the various stalls, conveniently arranged, were laden with a large quantity of useful needle and art work, made by the ladies, while in the centre of the schoolroom was a Christmas tree, covered with toys and other things, that delight the hearts of children. There were also lollie and refreshment stalls, and several side showß, including an art gallery and fishpond, while afternoon tea and strawberries and cream were dispensed at a moderate rate. The ladies in oharge were as follow: Refreshments, Mesdames Moore, " Cooke, Street; needlework stalls, Mesdames Pooley, Hawes, Williams, and Freeman; lollie stall, Misses Minetti and Ross; fancy stall, Misses Moore (2), Wrigley, and Freeman. A large number of sales were effected, particularly during the evening, when those present were treated - to a pleasing concert programme. The sale will continue open to-day.

AUCKLAND CYCLE ROADS LEAGUE. A meeting of the Council of the League was held at, the Sports Club last night. Messrs. J. H. Hon ton, J. B. Maofariane and R. Noton were elected members of the Council. Messrs. P. A. Vaile, E. Reynolds and A. A. Davies were appointed delegates to the Southern centres of cycling to co-operate with them in considering the Cycle Boards Bill and arranging the plan of operation's for tho future. It is understood that the Christchurch cyclists intend to convene a meeting of delegates in Christchurch about the end of December to meet and confer with the Auckland delegates. Messrs. Cooper and Crozier were added to the Roads Committee. The revised rules of the league as drawn by Mr. P. A. Vaile were discussed fully and passed b" the Council. A meeting of the committee to confer with the members of the Legislature on the subject of Cycle Boards Bill was fixed for the 11th prox. ■ ■'
