ART GALLERY MANAGEMENT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Your correspondent "Pour Quoi" is very anxious to know why Mr. Steele hits not been retained a member 6f tho Board of Advice for the management of the Art Gallery. He pleads that he ought to have been retained, because he has been one of the committee for years. I dc not think that to bo .1 sufficient reason. Your correspondent must know that it is possible to bo a member of a committee and yet take little or no interest in it. Perhaps "Pour Quoi" can inform us whether his friend has taken a deep interest in trie work of the committee in tho past; if so, then the Council ought to havo retained him; if he lias not done so, then the Council has done right in making a change. What is wanted in committees such as these aro live men, and I am glad to know that in the rules now existing in connection with the gallery, provision is made for the deposition of members who cannot, or will not, attend.— am, etc., Pro Bono Publico.
