LAND SALE AT ROTORUA.

At the Courthouse, Rotorua, on Friday last, the Commissioner of Crown . Lands ' (Mr. Gerhard Mueller), conducted a very successful sale of leases in the township of Rotorua and village of Mamaku, recently surveyed and situated about 12 miles from Rotorua. The leases at Rotorua were for 99 years, and were submitted under the Thermal Spring District Act, 1881. _ The annual rentals realised were very satisfactory, in many cases the upsets - being doubled and trebled. As one of the conditions of the leases requires improvements to the value of 10 times the annual rent to be effected within one year, it is anticipated a large amount of building and other works will be carried on at Rotorua during the next 12 months. The village lots at Mamaku were disposed of for absolute sale, and there were no conditions or restrictions placed 011 purchasers. Several of the back sections were passed in, but those fronting the railway reserve and the main constructed roads realised high prices, as much as £20 per acre having been paid for the better-situated lots.
