NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB. The North Shore Rowing Club held their third scries of trial fours at Cheltenham Beach on Saturday afternoon last. Eight crews competed for trophies presented by Mr. Gerald Peacocke. The first heat was between crows stroked by R. Cave, W. Swinnerton, and F. Burgess, when R. Cave won by a length. The second heat 'was between crews stroked by P. Walsh and F. Burgess, and the former won by two lengths. The third heat was between crews stroked by B. Cardno, L. Bakewell, and F. Best, and the former won easily by three lengths. After a short interval the three winning crews, viz., B. Cardno's, P. Walsh's, and R. Cave's, went out to contest the final, and B. Cardno beat P. Walsh by half-a-length after an exciting go, R. Cavo being a length away third. The names of the winners are: B. Cardno, W. Macindoe, F. Warbrick, and J. Garrett, E. Bailey (cox.) THE MERCER REGATTA. The forthcoming Mercer Regatta is making things busy amongst the local rowing men. and crews are training daily. The now clinker outriggers which will be used on this occasion have now arrived for tho Waitemata, North Shore, and St. George's Rowing Clubs, and, as all the Auckland clubs will be competing, as well as crews from Ngaruawahia, some very close finishes may be anticipated! " In the three items for the swimming races, the- Now Zealand champion, G. E Tyler, will be among the competitors. All those participating in this sport are reminded that entries will close on Thursday next, the 29th inst., with the local secretary, W. J. Thomson, at the Sports Club. The Railway Department purpose providing the public with good accommodation on the day of the Mercor Regatta. Many new carriages have been added to the rolling stock, and it is intended to provide ease and comfort for those who attend the regatta.
