SENSATION IN CANTERBURY.

At Holywell, Seadown, South Canterbury, dwells a lady who is an object of peculiar interest in that she has passed through an extraordinary experience. The reports have been confirmed by a reporter who travelled from Wellington for tho purpose. Mrs. Margaret Hornbrook is 72 years of age, a native of Scotland, and came out in 1811 in the ship Arab. Her story ran thus:— "I settled in Seadown in '52, being the first white woman to live in this part. Dospite the hard work and rough living inseparable from the pioneering, I always enjoyed robust health until about five years ago, when I began to suffer from indigestion and heart palpitation, and two years later the pains of rheumatism came in my fingers and arms. In wintei the pains were especially severe, reaching right up to the shoulders, whilo the elbow and joints were stiff and swollen. I lost the use of my hands, and I lay awake night after night with pain. Sometimes I rose from bed and walked up and down the room in a vain endeavour to forget the terrible agony. But nothing eased me and my fingers became quite distorted. During this time my troubles from indigestion increased; I had to force myself to eat, and even after a light meal I had a disagreeable sense of fulness, oppression, and other symptoms of indigestion I tried medicines but without result, and both the indigestion and rheumatism grew worse. At last my daughter sent for a supply of Dr. Williams' pink pills. After taking the second box my fingers became less stiff, and I could move them a little. Now I can use my hands, and all pain has gone. My health is excellent, I have a good appetite, and enjoy my meals without 01 effect. Dr Williams pink pills have completely cured me. •
