THE STYCHE CASE.

SEVEN YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.--PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchttrch, Saturday. At the Supreme Court Mr. Joynt applied for leave to apply to the Appeal Court for a new trial in the prosecution of Henry Vincent Styche, who was found guilty of attempting to procure another to commit murder. After hearing the addresses of counsel His Honor reserved judgment till halfpast twelve to-day. On the Court resuming His Honor granted the application for leave to applyto the Court of Appeal for a new trial, but stated he could not admit accused to bail. He sentenced him to seven years' imprisonment with hard labour, sentence to be suspended till the next sittings of the Court of Appeal, or until the matter is earlier dealt with.
