REPRESENTATION OF AUCKLAND.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — has been a source of pleasure to me for tho past 50 years to attend aftersession meetings called by our representatives, and to look upon such gentlemen as truly representing the constituency, even when one had been unable to support their candidature at the ballot-box. Gillies, Williamson, and others are honoured names. How impossible to think of them as making jokes on such serious matters as the removing financial safeguards, tho consenting to secret bargains for increase of salaries, and the taking £40 as payment for their sharo in tho dishonest transaction! Because of these things, my place will bo vacant at the- meeting to-night, and my vote and interest will never be given to any one of the three who now claim to represent the City of Auckland in the present Parliament.—l am, etc., W.J.C.
