ACCIDENT TO A JOCKEY.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Coromandel, Wednesday. During the running of the Opitonui Handicap at the Coromandel races to-day, the bay mare Nereid, who was well in the front van, came down a cropper, rolling over her rider (R. Smith), who appeared to be seriously injured. Dr. Cheeseman at once attended to the sufferer, and found that, in addition to a very severe crushing of tho body, the man had sustained a dislocation and fracture of the shoulder blade. 'I he patient was removed to the hospital, and is now doing as well as can be expected.
