AMERICA AND FRANCE.
OFFICIAL CONTRADICTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. Washington, November 19. The circumstantial statement that Mr. Porter, the American Minister in Paris, has been recalled, is officially contradicted; also the report that the former naval attache to the Embassy, Lieutenant W. S. Sims, had been removed. The latter has merely rejoined his ship. Mr. Hay, Secretary of State, is endeavouring to allay the excitement regarding the reported theft of plans of the new French gun.
