POLICE PROMOTIONS.
[BY TEI.BGBAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. The Commissioner of Police has raised SubInspector MacDonneJl, of Greymouth, formerly of Wellington, to the rank of inspector. Inspector MacDonneJl will remain in charge of the Greymouth district. Sergeant Black, of Christchurch, formerly of Napier, has been promoted to a, sub-inspec-torship. ____
Mr. T. Harle Giles, of the Business and Training College, Lower Symonds-street, has invented a special system of teaching nanawriting by correspondence. . The results achieved have been most successful. A meeting for the election of officers of the Pukekohe Mounted Rifles will take place in the Protestant Hall on Saturday next, at half-past four p.m. , To-day and to-morrow the fine Frenoh warship Protet will be open for inspection from half-past one p.m. Ferry steamers will run at short intervals during each afternoon, first steamer leaving ferry-tee at half-past one p.m. ~ ~. ,n. . , ... .
