THE GOVERNOR.
His Excellency the Governor, we are informed, may not be'expeeted back in Auckland from Wellington till Wednesday next: Captain Alexander (His Excellency's private secretary) is making a good recovery from his recent accident. At the late annual meeting of the Society of Arts there was a wish unanimously expressed that His Excellency the Governor and Lady Ranfurly might permit their names to be inscribed as "patrons of the society in which they have taken an interest. This desire on the part of the members having been communicated to His Excellency, the secretary of the society is in receipt of a letter from Captain Alexander private secretary to the Governor, in which Lord and Lady Ranfurly's consent to become patrons of the society is grant
