LACROSSE.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—Having been in Canada, and seen tho national gamo played there, and seeing that in England and tho Australian colonics tho j gamo has taken a firm hold, I often wondered how long it would bo before New Zealand took to lacrosse. Last year it gave me great pleasure to see that a few keen sports initiated tho Canadian national game in Auckland, and for a first season played a very creditable game. This year I see that the small association of last year has dovelopod into forming six district clubs. They have obtained three grounds on our lovely Cricket Ground, and also had the foresight to get the use of the stand. Now, I ask all lovers of a good scientific game, with plenty of dash and excitement, to help by their presence the efforts of our young men; for a Saturday afternoon's pleasure in the winter will be gained by those who have the time and inclination to go to tho Domain. I havo it on good authority that no charge of any sort will be made to the ground or stand. I for one intend going every Saturday, and wish our Auckland lacrosse players every success. To those who know nothing about'tho game, let mo say that it is one that ladies can watch without any fear of unsightly accidents; it is pretty, full of interest from start to finish, giving plenty of room for skill and activity. My advice is, go to the Domain on Saturday, when tho opening game of the season will bo played, and you will soon bo interested. I note the press archiving the association every help with reports, and lot mo tell tho clubs to keep tho gamo before the public. This the press, lam sure, will help them to do, as they must know it to be an up-to-date game.— am, etc..
