THE EXHIBITION SURPLUS.
A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Auckland Industrial and Mining Exhibition was held yesterday in the office of Mr. W. Ledingham. There were present: Mr. James Russell, Mr. W. J. Napier, Mr. Geo. rowlds, ¥.r. G. S. and Mr. Ledingham. Mr. Russell was called to the chair. It was agreed to minute an expression (f the committee's regret at the deaths of Mr. W. Crowther and Mr. R. Rose, both members of the executive. A number of accounts were passed for payment, and Mr. Russell was appointed to sign cheques in place of Mr. B. Kent, the president of the Exhibition, who holds that the Executive Committee has now ceased to exist, and refuses to attend meetings. In the circumstances Mr. Russell was appointed chairman of the committee, Mr. Ledingham reported that some music belonging to the Exhibition had not been sold, and he was instructed to realise all the unrealised-assets of the Exhibition, and also to consult with Mr. Thomas Cotter, with the view of being prepared to defend the finding of the committee that the surplus be devoted to the purposes of a Technical School, with provision in the same building for a Chamber of Commerce.
