Oldham, the secretary of the Stock Exchange. Offertory collections wore made on Sunday. May 6, at Holy Trinity Church, Otahuhu, in aid of tho Indian famino relief fund. The amount collected was £9 13s. • The churchwardens (Dr. Rowley and Mr. E. J. Matthews) will thankfully receive, any time before next Friday, contributions from those who were not prepared to give their offerings on Sunday, or were prevented from attending church on that day. In reply to the Premier. Mr. W. J. Napier, M.H.R., has forwarded the following tcleTam:— "I quito think that the dreadful visitation of famine which is now afflicting our fellow subjects in India should arouso our charitablo instincts to the highest dogrce. As there is already a fund started here for tho object, would it not be well to supplement that fund by a sum from the public exchequer, instead of possibly closing up tho springs of individual charity by sending an independent amount direct." The town clerk has been notified by the Chief Postmaster, Auckland, that remittances on account of the Indian famine fund will be cabled free.
