LAKE TAKAPUNA.
TO SHE EDITOR. Sir,— you allow me to explain the nature of the application I made to the Waitemata County Council at last meeting. Owning land not only on lake slope, but the opposite slope also, I propose to put a drive in from just above high water level in lake to high water level in Shoal Bay. This would give me a fall of lift 4in. It would have to go under a road dividing my land at a depth of 100 ft. The application I rnado to the Council was td'go under that road; it was merely formal. I havo the same rights to tho water of the lake that Devonport has; also as those inhabitants on the lako shore who have been using tho water for years. I propose, whon tho tunnel is complete, to fix a syphon and test the lake. Everything else is in abeyance until that is done.— am, etc., E. Harrow.
