OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of tho Ohinomuri County Council was held on Thursday evening, when there were present; Messrs. Barry (chairman), Bowler, Poland, Saunders, Marrinan, Stackpole, Moore.

Tenders: The following tenders wore ac-cepted:-Filling and carting broken metal in Paoroa: Treanor, IOJd per yard; from Powell's quarry to Heitmnn's Hill, E. Bain, £75 16s Bd. Scouring 186 chains of drain at Netherton: R. McKeo, £21. Building truss bridge, 60ft span, over tho Waitokauri Creek, Grace Darling Road: O. J. Collins, £357. Supply broken motnl from Buchanan's bridge to Mackaytown: P. Troanor and E. Short, Is Id per yard each. Left to tonderers to settle. From Mackaytown to Karangahako: E. Short and E. Bain, Is 3d per yard each. Same course as last was adopted. Karangahake to Waikino: E. Bain, Is Id per yard. From Waiteto Creek to Waihi: M. J. Keane, £34 10s.

New Wharf: Messrs. MeLennan and Hopo asked for a frontage to the river for tho purpose of erecting a goods shod and wharf. Tho Council could not grant tho application, but would not object to the applicants utilising 50ft of frontage subject to the engineer's approval, and to bo removed at any time without compensation. Waihi Petitions: A petition asking for an extension of the water supply to Rosemont Road was adjourned till next spring. A petition asking for repairs to Savago's road was also adjourned to next spring. Regarding Bullor-street and Kensington Roads, Waihi, it was decidod that both roads be repaired, the cost of the former not to oxeced £10 and the latter £20, John McDonald asked tho Council to remove his house, which had been eroded on a road before the latter was surveyed and marked out. It was decided that the sum of £5 be given him to remove tho building without prejudice. Nctherton Road: A lnttor from E. G. B. Moss, solicitor, was read, stating that the road and drain at Netherton were seriously damaging Mr. W. Dennerby's property at Netherton, It was decided that Mr. Dennerby bo asked if he would soil ono acre of land selected by the engineer to bo used for the purpose of widening the road- etc. Karangahako Road: Tho manager of the Ohinemuri Coaching Companj complained of tho dangerous state of the main road at Karangahako, opposite tho Crown Company's reduction works. It was decided that the complaint bo forwarded to Tho railway engineer, and as the damage has been caused by tho railway works, he is to be informed that the Department must keep tho road in a fit state of repair for traffic. Irishtown: It was decided that tho drain work at Irishtown (Karangahako) be done as soon as the written consent of those interested is obtained, and an agreement signed that they will not claim compensation now or in the future.

Waitokauri: Tlio engineer was asked to report on tho state of tlio footpath along the old road at the back of Gordon's stables.

The Turncock: Mr. J. O'Hara, turncock, applied for an increase in his salary,, and it was agreed that ho receive an additional £20 per annum, and the appointmont of ranger for the Paeroa distriot.

Waihou Road: Mr. J. Fctloy and othors asked that the drain on the Faeroa-Waihou Road be cleaned out. They agreed to pay one-third of the cost. It was decided that the work bo done.

Mill Road: Mr. Jacob Bertilsen complained, that tho two crossings near bis place were in a dangerous condition. It was agreed 'that if applicant pay half cost of repairs tho work be done.

Payment of Waihi Employees: It was resolved, "That the Council's employees at Waihi bo paid by chequo through the modium of Mr. Corbctt, assistant engineer, thus saving tho men coming in to Paeroa for their money." Hill Track: The engineer was instructed to repair Hill track at Karangabake where tho slip ban occurred. ltyo Lane : Mr. Geo. De Castro drew attention to the very bad condition of Ryo Lane, Paeroa. Tlio work of repairing to stand over till spring. Rahu Road: On the application of P. Oft, it was decided that tho engineer keep tho Rahu Road, Owhnroa, in a passable condition.

Catllo Stops: Tho cattle-stop nuisance was brought under tho notice of tho Council by Mr. J. Dalston, and it was resolved, "That all cattle slops on tho Paeroa footpaths bo removed."
