POLICE COURT NEWS.

Mn. H. W. BIiABANT, S.M., was tho presiding magistrate at tho Polico Court on Saturday morning. Drunkenness: Edward Doblo was convicted of this offenco and fino ss. A first offender, who did not appear, was fined 10s; whilo two others were convicted and discharged. Alleged Damage to Property and Assault: Joseph Linton was charged with breaking a plato-glass window in Queen-street, valued at £25, the property of Rtaveo Black, and also with assaulting Chas, Rookel. Accused was remanded till Tuesday on both charges. Alleged Theft: Alfred Alberts was charged with stealing, on May 4, from the houso of one Brondford, a silver watch and chain, value £6 ss. the property of Win. Wells, and was remanded till Wednesday. Prohibition Order: Jas. McCauley applied for a prohibition order against his wife, Annie Mary McCauley, which was granted upon tho evidence of complainant and that of Mr. Strathern. A similar order was made against Caroline Smith.

Dismissed: A seaman named Patk. Nolan was chartrod with absenting himself from his vessel. The master of the vessel said ho would not press the charge if certain wages which had been uaid in advance were refunded. Accused agreed to refund tho amount, and tho case was dismissed.
