GLUT IN THE POTATO MARKET
[nv TELEGRAPH.—press ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday.
Messrs. Geo. Thomas and Co. report:— Owing to the large quantity of new potatoes from Onehunga which have arrived during the past two weeks, the market collapsed on Saturday and the highest rate obtainable for Shepherds was 6s per cwt, and kidneys, lis per cwt. Seeing that the Auckland market offers better inducements than the above, it is as well, in the interests of the Onehunga growers, to give the present state of affairs as wide a publicity as possible. We shall give early advice of an improvement.
