[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Argument in the case of Hams v. Aldous was continued in the Court of Appeal throughout to-day, and has not yet concluded. Ml' H. Dixon, a well known member si the Garrison Band, who has been connected with the bands of this city for 33 years, is dead He was to have accompanied the band to Bathmst, and his death will necessitate the band playing a bass snort. Mr. Ferguson, secretary and engineer to the Harbour Board, is proceeding fo England via America, and returning by way of Australia. He will be absent nine months. Mi. G. F. Smith for many years assistant secretary, to the Board, is returning from England to take up Mi Ferguson's duties during his absence. Mr. K. i«. Mestaver, late city, drainage enpneei, has been appointed engineer until Mr. FerguS ° A seaman named John Walker met with a serious accident on board the f«taneU , off Cape Campbell, this afternoon. While the crew were hoisting a surf boat aboard, a hawser, in winding round the barrel of the winch, took Walker's right hand With it, with the result that the band ed arm were torn off below the elbow. The TutaneU came on to Wellington at 14-knot speed, and Walker was removed to the hospital.
