Paris, August 24, At the trial, Esterhazy's previous evidence and his letters to the late M. Fatire were read. General Gonse testified that EsterJiazy was never the right-hand man of the headquarters staff. Dit Paty de Clam's indiscretions had compromised the whole staff. He admitted that he attempted to shield Esterhazy in pursuance of Gerieral Merger's advice.
Dreyfus is struggling vigorously for liberty. He interposes and corrects the witnesses with regard to dates, and demolishes their conclusions.
London, August 24. The Daily News states tlust the generals are wavering.
The Times Paris correspondent says they are sb panic-stricken ttlat they are discussing the expediency of acknowledging Esterhazy as the author of the bordereau, but declaring that Dreyfus was his accomplice and the purveyor of the documents through Weyler, the intermediary.
PARIS, August 23. A letter received from a French spy named Cuers showed that Dreyfits was not known in Berlin. Several of M. Quesnay de Beaurepaire's Witnesses gave evidence with regard to Dreyfus' gay life. Dreyfus was furious at this. He said the evidence referred to a period IS years ago.
