VOLUNTEERING NEWS.
THE NEW ADJUTANT. Captain Owen, the new adjutant of the New Zealand military forces, was at one time in the Volunteer Artillery in New South Wales, and was a member of thr Soudan Contingent. There is already an adjutant for the Auckland district, and the 'Defence Department has not yet decided in which centra Captain Owen will be stationed. His duties will be to assist the officer in command of the district to which he is allotted.
OHINEMURI RIFLES. [BY TELEGRAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.] Paeroa, Thursday. . ; At a meeting of the Ohinemuri Rifles No. 1 Mr. Hugh Poland was nominated as captain. Tills being the only nomination received, Mr. Poland will doubtless be elected.
