NEW ZEALAND A.A. CHAMPIONSHIPS.
TUE DUNEDIN TEAM.
A SEMES of trials in connection with tho New Zealand Amateur Championship Athletic Meeting of February 4 was held at the Carisbrook ground, Dunedin, recently. The Selection Committee I Messrs. VV. A. Low and D. Duncan) had already singled out a number of men to represent them in tho different events; but thorn wore others whoso claims to be selected wave entitled to consideration, and it wan decided to hold the trials indicated for tho purpose of discovering which were capable of putting up the best performance. Tho trials comprised a 250 yds rial race, a milo run, and a two-mile walk. In the 250 yds the competitors were: E. L. Macassoy, C. E. Aldridgc, J. Turnbull, and J. W. Price. Macassoy got the best of tho start, and easily improved upon his advantage, winning us he liked, Aldridgo being second, and Turnbull third, a good many yards liehind the second man. Price did not finish. Tho time was 23 3-Ss. In tho milo run tho competitors were; T. K. Bennett mid W. Olson. Bennett led all tho way, and, spurting in tho last lap, won very easily. Timo, 4m. 49js. In the two-mile walk D. Mtiuro and D. Wilson competed. Monro won easily, but his style of walking was objected to by a number of those present. The time was 16m. 375.
