AN ISLAND ERUPTION.
Sydney, November 3.
During the cruise of 11.M.5. Mildura, sh» visited Lopier Island, the scene of the severe eruption on July 23, which destroyed all vegetation and wrecked the native villages, the inhabitants having to flee for their lives. A stream of lava 200 ft wide reached the sea.
