[by telegraph.—press association.] Timaru, Saturday. The South Canterbury Farmers' Association report a net profit for the year of £8479. Christchurch, Saturday. The death is announced of another early settler, viz., Thomas Hancock, aged 86. He arrived here in 1862. Two more sudden deaths are reported, making seven in Christchurch since last Saturday. A labourer named George Knngga while having lea in the Foresters' Hotel last evening, fell dead, A man, John Stevenson, 70 years old, was found doad in his bod yesterday. Deceased is said to have considerable property, and is believed to have a wife living in Dunedin. Wellington, Sunday. At a meeting of unskilled workers to consider tho unemployed question, it was decided to form a General Labourers' Union in Wellington.
