PRISON ROMANCE.
At Bow-street, Clotilde Adnet, alias Martin a good-looking young woman, was again brought up for extradition, charged with counterfeiting money, in Belgium. Additional interest was lent to the case by the peculiar way in which prisoner escaped from a Belgian prison. She was sentenced in that country to six years' imprisonment.for counterfeiting coin. She was visited in prison bv her sister, who changed clothes with her The sister 'oraained behind while prisoner walked out as a visitor. When passing the guards at the prison gate prisoner kept her handkerchief to her face, and wept so violently that a nun was called to comfort her Once away from the gaol prisoner walked rapidly Over the frontier, and eluded a large number of officers who were looking for her She eventually came to London, and was arrested in Soho. ..." ■■:■■ .
' Mr. de Fleury, who now defended, said lie had gone through the ;" depositions ' taken abroad, and had come to the conclusion that prisoner would have to back to Belgium There was really no defence to the case. ' ; . Inspector Sexton said he had read to prisoner the warrant issued by the Secretary of State, arid she replied, "That is the same thing as the other, only it is signed by another baron." (Laughter.) : Prisoner explained, to the magistrate in French that she was not guilty, and was determined not to go back. ;,;.. • '.-:.■:!
