AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. I The market yesterday showed no material change. Investment stocks were in good J demand, but prices showed no alteration, I except that National Banks advanced, buyers offering 455, sellers declining to quit at less than 46s 6d. Insurance stocks were in good demand, and miscellaneous lines were in fair request. Union Oils were asked for at 17s. In mining Talismans firmed, buyers offering 8s 6d, sellers holding for 9s. Wailii-Silvertons were placed at 5s 4d, and at the close there were further buyers at that figure, sellers holding for 5s Bd. Wailiis were on offer at £5, Waitekauris at 28s, Grand Junctions 17s, and Ohinemuri Syndicates at 2s 6d. For Crowns 16s was offered, Alphas 2s Id, and Woodstocks 7s 3d, but sellers declined business at these rates. For Thames lines May Queens were wanted at 5s 3d, New Alburnias Is Id, and several low-priced lines at late quotations. Tarani Creeks were exchanged at 2s. Piiru Consolidateds dropped, thore being sellers at 6d. Great Barrier Gold and Silvers could have been placed at 2s 6d, and Barrier Reefs (paid-up) at Is 6d, but there was no demand for either line. Coromandel scrip was neglected. BULLION SHIPMENT. The National Bank of New Zealand forwarded to Sydney by the Waihora yesterday. for transhipment to London, five boxes containing bullion valued at £5500. NEWS FROM THE MINES. [by telecraph.—own correspondent.] Coromandel, Monday. PROGRESS-CASTLE ROCK. The reef intersected in the main crosscutlias been proved to be Win thick, and, bv mortar test, is found to contain a little gold. The manager is hopeful of another lode being a little further ahead. NEW GOI.CONDA. Gold continues to be seen in the stone, whilst some fairly good crushing dirt is being accumulated. JKItSKV. The tributers, Lindsay and party, are driving on the leader at the low level, and blotches of gold are occasionally seen in the stone. It is intended to get out another crushing within the next few weeks. OTAGO GOLD DREDGING. [BY TELEGRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Du.vf.iiix> Monday. There is considerable excitement at Cromwell over the return from the Alpine dredge, which washed up 190oz gold and was only four days on gold. The dredge is a small one. Further returns are: —Kvebiirn dredge, 28oz lldwt (for three weeks, while opening nut new face): Maniototo dredge, 18oz 15dwt (for 103 hours) Upper Waipori, 16oz lOdwt (for 86 hours), Jetland Flat dredge, 19'« 6(lwt (for 137 hours); Clyde dredge, 91oz (for week). JUNE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Nonpareil (Thames, August 13): Drive east on Wade reef advanced through most congenial class of country rock of a firm character. Leader is rather smaller. Breaking it down we saw some nice colours of gold, accompanied with most favourable minerals. Welcome Find (Coromandel, August 13): Cross-leader on No. 3 level is being stripped; extending the drive eoutli-wofit at same level. I Country in ivinzo continues to be of same good character. Lode is being stripped. Comstoek (Waioino, August 11): During tho fortnight the tunnel lias been driven 10ft, making it 80ft. The ground is still hard. No cliango to report as yet. ■ Broken Hill (Waioino, August 11): Sloping along reef, which is well defined, and of fairly good quality, and contains a quantity of minerals. _ A largo quantity of ore broken down, which should pay fairly well if it could bo crushed. Prospects are very encouraging. I'rogress-Castlo Rock (Coromandel, August 15): No. 4 level is now in 274 ft. Passed through lodo on 12th inst., some ISin through, very thickly mineralised, and giving a little gold by mortar test. Country continues good for gold-bearing lodes, and a very large flow of water is coming from the face. New Golconda (Coromandel, August 15): Still driving and sloping upon leader. Have saved 91b or 101 of stone, showing strong dabs of gold and tho general dirt should be fairly good crushing dirt. Machinery in good condition, and working well. Hunker's Hill (Coromandel, August 13): Cross leader— of gold eontinuo to be seen in the ore taken down in slopes on cross leader. Country continues of same favourable description as hitherto.
