Cairo, March 8. Maiimud, the Dervish general, burned Metammeh, a town in East Soudan, and has concentrated his forces at Shendy. He lias under his command 11,000 riflemen and spearsmen, and 2000 horsemen.
Osman Digna is slowly advancing with a considerable force, against the British.
