DEATH OF A POLICE OFFICER.
[by telegkapii.—press association.] Westpokt, Wednesday. Sergeant Major Moore, who was trails* ferred from tiisborne to Westport about two months ago, died to-night after a short illness. Deceased was ah old police officer. (Iβ came from Victoria in 1862, and served under Inspector Brannigan, in Dunedin. During hit short residence here he made many friends. Great sympathy is felt for the family.
