Thk New South Wales troops were welcomed by Lieutenant-Colonel Ward and Lieutenant Baillie Hamilton. They went to Hounslow by train. The bands of the Scots Greys and of the depotplayed them from the railway station to the barracks, where the whole regiment were heartily cheered. The streets were thronged and much enthusiasm was displayed.

At the officers' mes3 Lieutenant- , Colonel Lassetter and other officers of * the detachment returned thanks for tin welcome the troops had received. Lieutenant-Colonel Lassetter expressed his delight at their magnificent reception.
