TREATMENT OF THE AGED NEEDY.
INQUIRY AT WELLINGTON. [tj TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. An enquiry began to-day into the charges against Mr. and Mrs. Short, matter and matron of the Home for the Aged Needy. The charges are 13 in number, and include allegations of ill-treatment of inmates both physically and by interference with their food, want of respect for the religious tenets of inmates, and generally of treating them as though inferiors. The Rev. Van Stavern, who brings the charges, conducted his case personally, and said the reason for the enquiry was than tho home wan conducted as an HUmanaged pruon.
