CONFERENCE OF THE TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
[BY TKLKGRAI'H.— ASSOCIATION] Doxkdin, Thursday. At the Trades Council Conference it was derided to ask the Government to amend the Workmen's Wages Act, so as to make it compulsory on the part of employers to pay wages to their manual labourers at intervals not exceeding one week. It was resolved Mint the conference protest against the praotice of unnecessary Sunday work creeping in in the railways of the colony J alto that (he conference nppoul to workers generally to endeavour to minimise unnecessary Sunday work.
