At the Kifle Association's meeting above referred to, his Worship was in attendance, ■ yd delivered a speech to the citizens rresent, in connection with the opening nremony of the function, when, unfortunately, he contracted a cold, and, at no time enjoying robust health, to this he ■(tributes his present unfortunate illness. This prevented his regular attendance at the Council Chambers and ordinary meetings, »d though be hasmoßt ably and conscientiously acquitted himself of the bulk of his I duties as a public man, at) his own private ! usidence, it has been with great difficulty I t od self-sacrifice. Several weeks since, : ji r- Boardman informed the members of ' the' Council that unless he improved in Jitsltk, he would notify them in the course ( a short period as to bis retention or otherwise of the position of mayor, and «ith his continued illness, the step ho has decided upon was not unexpected by his . coworkers on the Council, and those intimate with him and the state of his health. Mr. J. T. Julian, who has been a member of the City Council for seme seven years, announces that be is a candidate for the Mayoralty.
