POLICE COURT.-Satprdai. [Before Colonel Hiultain, J.P.] Drunkenness —John Johnson, a fourth offender, was fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment. Ada Logan, for her third offence within six months, was fined £1 with the alternative ot 7 days. Of three firsl offenders, one was cautioned and discharged, and the other two punished in the usual way. John Brown, Hugh Storey, Richard James, and Charles Sampson, all second offenders, were fined 10s, with the option of 4S hours. Drunkenness and Obscene Language.— Jane Whelan, aged 29, was charged with hav-iugusedobscenelanguageiuQneen-streec. Mr. Cotter, appearing ou accused's behalf, states that she admitted being drank, but had no recollection of having used bad language. He would uot however, dispute the evidence brought by the police, but asked that both charges be taken under the head of drunkenness, as the latter offence proceeded from the accused's drunken state at the time. After some discussion His Worship adopted counsel's suggestion. The accused was fined 'JOs for drunkenness, and a conviction wa, recorded against her on the other offence. Alleged Stealing from the Person. - Grace Graham was remanded to April 12 on the charge that she stole valuables MM money of the total value of £10 2s 6d, fron the person of Henry Fitzsimmons. A Serious Charge. — James Todd waj charged that on April 16, at Auckland, he S resented a loaded revolver at the head o James Hagan, at the same time exclaiming " I'll blow your brains out." Tin' same was also charged with using threaten ing behaviour in Queen - street by pre seuting a loaded revolver at the head of James Hagan. Mr. Devore appeared for the accused. Sergeant Clarke foi the police, stated that when arrested, the man was going about the street in a very excited condition. From his actions, he did not seem to be of sound mind. It would be wel for him to be remanded for eight days, till his faculties were clearer, as the charge he had to meet was a verv serious one. Mr. Devore objected to so long a remand, as the prisoner was engaged in the Upper Thames district, by the County Council, ou very large contracts, which he could not neglect. He asked for a remand till next Wednesday, accused's mental condition to be reported on meanwhile. Counsel's request wasgrantc
