COLONIAL BANK LIQUIDATION.

[ADVEBTISKMKST,] The following advertisement! and correspondence are supplied by Messrs. Batger and Stericker, of this city, in answer to the many enquiries they have received with reference to the connection of their correspondents, Messrs. Hotiderson and Batger, of lnvercargill, with Hon. J. G. Ward :— To the editor, Otago Daily Times. Sir,—l have just read your report of the Supreme Court proceedings on Monday bearing on the liquidators' application to sell to me Mr. Ward's debh due to the Colonial Bank, and I regret to notice Mr. MacGregw made a must unwarranted reference to me and to the business carried on by partner (Mr. Walter Henderson) anil myself. An advertisement is inserted in this issue contradicting Mr. MacGregor's Insinuation, but I feel it incumbent on me to protect against the tactics employed by that gentleman. Perhaps Mr. MacQregor felt justified in opposing the application, but surely before making what is virtually an unfair attack upon Henderson and Batger's business he should have made some inquiry from me or the firm's solicitor, when any information he desired would have been given him. Had I received any intimation that my presence was desirable at the bearing on Monday I would have been pleased to have attended to give what evidence I could. However, I must take this opportunity of stating once and for all that Mr. Ward is in no way connected with our business, and the only partners in the firm are Mr. Walter Henderson and the writer.-I am, etc,, Joun Batger. lnvercargill, April 7. As many of our friends may be misled by the remarks made by W. C. MacQregor during the examination of the liquidators of the Colonial Bank at the proceedings in the Supreme Court, Dnnedin, on Monday, sth April, we beg toutate emphatically that the linn. Mr. Ward is in no way connected with our business. The only partners in the tlrm are Walter Henderson and John Batger, who alone are responsible for its controI.—HENDERSON A Batgeii, lnvercargill.
