THE TE AROHA DOMAIN.

[FROM OUK OWN OOItKIiSPONDKNT.J Tk Akoim, Thursday. As already reported in the Herald, a sum of £2000 was placed on the Estimates last session, to be devoted towards effecting certain improvements in the Domain, and amonc; other improvements it is intended to substitute for the present private bath-house a larger one, on an improved style, and more in keeping with the growing requirements of the place. Mr. Citdnun has forwarded to the Domain Board the plan of the new building for inspection and approval. Having been allowed to see the plan, through the cjurtesy of the chairman, a short account of the intended improvements may be of interest to the public. Tho plau, which is beautifully executed, shows a very handsome building 93 feet long by 28 feet wide, being 40 teet longer and 6 feet wider than the present building. The building is a wooden one, with concrete foundations, and the roof will be a slate one. picked out in fancy design. The general plan of the building shows a handsome centre piece, wilii awing at each end. A flight of broad, low steps leads up to the entrance hall, which is in the centre of the building, and is 10 feet wide. The doors from this open into a spacious corridor, running the full length of the building. The corridor, which is 8 feet wide, will have a tiled floor, and entrance to the various bathrooms will be from both sides. Commodious ladies and gentlemen's waiting rooms will be provided, all rooms being 10 feet high. Provision is made for 21 bathrooms, and in this connection a great improvement will be effected, as it it intended to do away with the present style of wooden bath and substitute therefor either porcelain or marble bath. Leading up to the front entrance is a nicely graded carriage way, which runs out to nothing on either side, so that, if necessary, invalids can be driven right up to the baths. In front of this, and dividing it from the present path, a neat concrete retaining wall, with fnnoyfence on top, will bo erected, having at each end pedestals for an electric light installation, should the introduction of such a means of illumination be decided upon. The necessary conveniences are situated at the rear of the main buildings, and all the floors and passages thereto are of concrete. It only remains to be added that the site chosen for the new building will set it off to the best advantage, it being on the breest of the risiug ground where the present bandstand is; overlooking the lawn, and opposite the main entrance to the Domain. The face of the hill will be further improved by means of winding paths, and additional shrubbery; the intention at present being to secure the services of a landscape gardener, in order to have the ground laid off to the best advantage, It is also intended to utilise a portion of the present lawn for a bawling green. __^_______
