J, Headrick, whose resignation of the charge at M ungate was accepted at the last meeting oi the Presbytery, has accepted a call to acb as minister to St. Peter's Presbyterian Church here, |[by teleoraph.—press association.] New Plymouth, Wednesday. Mr. R, G. Bauchope was re-elected chairman of the Education Board this morning for the fifth consecutive year. An inquest was held on Tuesday at Huirangi on the body of John Shore, aged 75, found in the Waitara River on Monday. The evidence showed that deceased had a weak intellect and was given to wandering. A verdict of accidental death wae returned.

Wellington, Wednesday. Now that the building has been pulled down and sold the profit from the recent Exhibition is expected to amount to between £1600 and £1700.

The Patent Slip Company pays a dividend of five per cent. The Opera House Company have declared a dividend of five per cent. The income for the year was £2365, including £1731 for rent. The liabilities are £20,330, and the assets £21,323. The Wellington Christian Endeavour Union carried a resolution regretting that Cabinet meetings had been hold on Sunday. A Chinaman named Ho Kee baa been committed for trial on a number of charges of breaches of the Bankruptcy Act) by not keeping proper books, etc. Christchdrck, Wednesday. A meeting of the East Christchurch Football Club to-night decided to wind up the club, on account of the want of interest shown by members. The club was over fifteen years old. Duneuin, Wednesday. Advantage was taken of the meeting of Lodge of Otago, E.C., to-night, to commemorate the Masonic Jubilee of Mr. Sydney James, who founded the lodge 36 years ago. Mr. James, who is G.S. of the District Grand Lodge, E.C., was presented with a silver tea and coffee service, a walking-stick, and a brooch for each of his daughters.
