The West Australians wera completely surprised. They were, according to Sir John Forrest, sure of a majority, bub when those who had spokon against hit motion on principle showed their federal spirit by accompanying him to the same) lobby the surprise was complete. One each from New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia opposed the motion. Progress was reported until to-morrow.
