MONDAY POPULAR CONCERTS.

The Monday concerts, conducted by Mr. P. R. Dix, at the City Hall, show no sign of abating in popularity. Indeed, they seem to become more acceptable as the season goes on. Last night's concert was no exception to the rule, the hall being well filled in every part. Mr. Hobin Hay sang " Love's Serenade " in a minner that elicited n decided encore, and at a later stage gave "|My Sweetheart when a Boy." with equal success. The humorous song, "Mary Jane's Top Note," earned Mr. Schatz an emphatic recall, while both the " Old Folks at Home" and "Sweet Spirit Hear My Prayer," by Miss E. I. Featon, found such acceptance as to necessitate her re-appear-ance on each occasion, the latter song being especially well given. Mr. A. WynyardJoss's mandolin solos were played In most finished manner, and the character song, "Amateur Actors," by Mr. Leslie Dix, was also decidedly well received. Miss T. A. Harprave was in capital voice, being heard to great advantage ■in Bernbardt's " Love's Request" and " Dublin Bay." both of which 'were emphatically redemanded. In the character number, "The Mikado's Song," Mr. Tayler met a most gratifying reception, not being allowed to depart without repeating tne concluding verse. ' The overtures and accompaniments were well played by Mr.'AW.' Bartley, and the company was heartily received in the plantation melody, "Shine, Shine, Moon,", a, decidedly pleasing item.'
