POLICE COURT.-Satordat. [Before Mr. H. W. Brabant, S.M.I Drunkenness, — Two first offenders were fined ds, with the usual alternative. Mary Brown, for her third offence was fined 20s, and Geo. F. Hill, for his second offence 10s, with the option of imprisonment in each case. Destitute Pebsons Act.—The usual number of Saturday morning cases under this Act were on the sheet; but only one order was made. Stephen Holland being ordered to pay 5s per - week towards the support of his aged father. Husband and WiFB.-John H. Edwards was charged with using persistent cruelty towards nil wife, Agues Edwards, in consequence of which the complainant prayed for a. separation order. Mr. Baume appeared for the complainant, and Dr. Laishley, instructed by Messrs. Devore and Cooper, for the defendant. Dr. Laishley objected to the case going on, as an action for divorce between the two parties was impending. His Worship replied that he did not wish to hear the case, seeing that the action for divorce would soon be heard in the Supreme Court. Besides the case had been already partly heard before Mr. Thos. Hutchinson, and it was right that it should be finished before this magistrate. Finally it was agreed to adjouru the caie till the 24th instant. Obscene Language.-BellaMolloy pleaded not guilty to the charge of having used obscene language in a public street. Accused was convicted on the evidence of several witnesses and sentenced to a month's impriionmeut with hud labour.
