SECOND READING OF AMENDMENT BILL CARRIED. Press Association -Electric Telegraph.-Uopyrisbt, London, April 9. In the House of Commons the Criminal Law Amendment Bill, entitling prisoners to give evidence, and allowing a wife or husband to be called upon to give compulsory evidence, was read a seoond time. The Bill applies to England aud Scotland. Mr. Lloyd Morgan and Mr. Carson opposed the Bill. Sir Charles D'lke said the Bill removed the last remains of barbarism.
