[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Thames, Friday. A man named McCarthy met with a painful accident to-day whilst at work at the Tliames-Hauruki Company's machine site. It appears that a plank upon which ho was walking suddenly snapped ifi two, and precipitated him from a height of several foet to the ground, with the result thab ho sustained a sovero flesh wound on tho head. Ho was taken to tho Hospital, where the wound was stitched by Ur. Williams. At a mooting of tho Hospit&l Trustees held this evening to tuko into consideration matters in cominection with hospital accommodation, the secretary (Mr. C'antleyj presented a report drawn up by tho House Coimnitteo, which stuted that the committee could not recommend a departure from the situ on which the present institution now stands; and that while Dr. McGregor estimated (he cosb of a now building to bo £8000, the committee were satisfied that if tho Government granted a sum of £1001) tho oldor portion of the building could be renewed, and increased accommodation provided to such ati oxtent that nothing further would be required for yoars to come. Tho report concluded by urging that an application be made for iho £1000, and recommended thab a copy of the report bo forwarded to the members for this and adjoining district (Mr. MoUowauand Mr. Cadnaan), to the Premier, and to the Minister in olmrge of the department, A resolution adopting the report wo 9 carried.
