DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—lf, as loyal British subjects, we must spend money on the occasion of the coming jubilee, let us at least have the good common sense to spend it iu a way that will be of some lasting benefit. -To fritter it away in a display of fireworks would be the height of folly, aud I feel certain that it it came to a public subscription very tew individnali would give money for such a purpose. No doubt a good round sum could be collected for such an object as suggested by Drs. Sharman or King, especially if we could enlist the services of Mr. John Abbott as secretary and chief collector of the Diamond Jubilee Children's Hospital or Convalescent Home Fund. Should any such scheme be adopted, and Mr. Abbott consents to act in tht capacity suggested, I am sure he would add another monument in commemoration of his zeal in a good cause to that of the Blind Institute.—l rm, etc., I. Hopkins.
