[lIV TELEGRAPH.— COIHIPSI'ONDENT,]

Hamilton, Wednesday, A four-roomed cottage, situated in Hamilton East, and occupiod by Mr. Neil Johnstone and family, was burned down about one o'clock this morning. Tho fire was caused through the tlaino of a candle setting the wall paper ablaze, Mrs. Johnstone having forgotten to extinguish the candle before going to sleep. Nothing was saved except a few clothes. The houso was insured for £70, and the furniture for £80,
