[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COBEESPUXDEXT.J Paeroa, Monday A young man named William Moore, Netherton, was thrown from his horse y terday morning, when on his way to Ksi ngahafce, and received a fracture of the rij arm. The injury was subsequently atteql to by Dr. Buckley. 11 The works on the Thames portion of t Thames Railway are now proceeding earnest, and last evening a. light train cat through from Auckland with a large numb of rails for the line. A young woman named Mies Moore, wl resides at the Junction, met with an unple sant experience this evening. She had bei out for a ride, and was on her return horn when the horse she was riding collided with milkcart, which was travelling in the oppoait direction. The shaft of the vehicle pent trated the flank of the horse and passed righ through the animal a length of two feet thre< inches before the shaft snapped. The horu, with the timber in its side, and maddened by pain, started off at a great pace, but it wa* speedily caught aud Miss Moore resetted. The horse, which was a valuable one, and was owned by Mr. H. C. Wick, was sub seAuently destroyed. A poll was taken by the County Council to-day re the proposal to borrow from - th* Government 17000 for the purpose of pro vtding Paeroa with a water supply. Tin loan proposal was successfully carried by 131 votes, there not beiug a single vote recorded against it.
