AS EXCITING INCIDENT.

Just before the arrival of the Rotomahann from Auckland a Mrs. Choat, of Totara Point, and a young lady friend from Auckland whose name could not bs ascertained, were awaiting the arrival of eome fiionds, and, apparently being anxious to spy them on the steamer, they went to the very edge of the wharf. As the steamer was enmitg alongside Mrs. Choat overbalanced iinr.ieli, and she grasped her friend, the two falling into the water together. The steward of the steamoi pluckily jumped into the water after them, and a young man named Syms, together with a cabman named l'arkes, clainberod down the piles. Tho two Indies wore roacued. They received a fright, but beyond a wetting were otherwise not hurt.
